Days (lost
track) - Back in Savannah
We loved
our NY-Boston trip, but by the time we got back to Savannah (another 24 hour
trip but this time on the comfortable Amtrak), we were exhausted! We were both very happy just to spend the
time in Savannah, resting up, ready for the next coach tour.
During that
six days or so, we hardly left the house.
I had developed a heavy cold and just felt like resting up. As for Roger, he needs no encouragement at
all to just rest up big time.
This period
gave us another great opportunity to really cement those two dear little
children well and truly into our hearts.
How sad we were to finally leave them. It is extra poignant as they will
be our last littlies and next time we see them they will not be babies any
more. Thomas told his mummy that the best thing about having Mimmy here was the stories and the best thing about having Pa here was learning Soduko.
This extra
week in Savannah wasn’t great timing as far as Robyn and Damien are concerned
because they were both studying hard for exams: Damien a university entrance exam
that will determine at which university he will be able to study his MBA, and
Robyn an exam to prove that she is capable of teaching in the state of
Georgia. Both of them are sitting them
this weekend: Damien on Saturday and Robyn on Sunday.
In terms of
photography, I concentrated my efforts this time on houses close to where Robyn
and Damien live and also Savannah’s ‘historical district’, an area of mostly
weatherboard homes from the early 1900s.
Many of them are painted with quite bold colours. For some, this has been done very tastefully –
not so for others. The following is a
sample of some of the better ones.
I did say that some are not so tasteful!
This rather overdone house is quite famous. It is called the 'Gingerbread House'.
