Washington reflections

Wonderful buildings
Full of symbolism
Eg. Washington Memorial is 555’ tall because Washington was a Freemason and that is their symbolic number
No building may stand taller than the statue of Freedom on the Capitol building, therefore it is a city of buildings no more than 3-4 storeys high.
Many excellent war memorials
Most public buildings are of Neo Classicism architecture
Numerous art galleries and museums, part of the Smithsonian Institute- all free from admission charges.  All are the legacy of Smithson, an English scientist who never had anything to do with USA but who left his entire fortune to this country.

(Photos in no particular order because of time constraints.  All as yet unedited)

WW2 monument

White House
Snipers on the roof of the White House indicate that the president is at home.
Memorial to soldiers from the Korean war.

Lincoln memorial.  New appreciation of what a wonderful man he was.
